Q: Does the size of my organization affect security roles?
A: Yes the smaller the number of individuals within an organization the more difficult it is to segregate responsibilities and processes and more transactions that will need to be given to each end users.  However, most companies that implement a SAP software package will be of sufficient size to properly segregate responsibilities.

Q:  What is segregation of duties (SoD)?  And why should my organization care about SoDs?
A:  A SoD conflict occurs when an end user has access to transactions that cut across functional areas that should be separated, for example a sole employee that can change or create a vendor record and can issue a check.  SoDs increase the risk of an organization and in some cases an employee will have access in the system to commit fraud.

Q:  Do I need a GRC tool like Compliance Calibrator?
A:  Generally speaking most publicly traded companies will need a GRC tool to satisfy SOX compliance requirements.  For privately held companies Assurance Concepts can assess your organization in a cost benefit analysis to determine if your organization should make the investment in a GRC tool.

Q:  What is SAP ERP Software?
A:  Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) System is the software application from SAP that helps organization to improve operational efficiency and productivity of business processes.  Now referred to as R3.

Q:  What is the acronym “SAP”?
A:  Systems, Applications and Products in Data Processing.
